VoLTE Driving Service Provider SBC (SP-SBC) Demand
During the quarter, the total SP-SBC market grew 4 percent sequentially as the wireless/VoLTE segment increased by 18%. The wireline component contracted 4% during the same timeframe. SBCs are a vital component of the VoLTE and IMS ecosystem. We forecast that the SP-SBC market will continue to show strong growth as subscribers are transitioned away from 2G/3G voice to VoLTE. During the quarter, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, and Huawei gained market share in the service provider segment due to IMS and VoLTE-related sales.
SIP Trunking Drives E-SBC Market
In 3Q15, the enterprise SBC (E-SBC) market increased 17% compared to and accounted for nearly 40% of the total market. The E-SBC market continues to be driven by increasing popularity of SIP Trunking and Hosted UC services. Cisco continues to lead the E-SBC market as most vendors benefitted from rise in SIP Trunking and Hosted Services driving E-SBC sales during the quarter.
