Exact Ventures recently announced that in 2Q23, the total 5G Signaling network function market (including related services revenues) more than doubled the level achieved in 2Q22. The market grew 31 percent on a sequential basis due to seasonal factors and continued investment in 5G SA networks.
In 2Q23, the Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) market (product + services revenues) grew 3 percent sequentially—but was down 1 percent versus 2Q22—due to a decline in services revenues. The sequential increase was due to seasonal spending patterns partially offset by weaker license shipments and price erosion. During the quarter, strength in North America and Asia Pacific was partially offset by declines in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (MEA) and Latin America. For the full-year 2022, the total DSC market was down 6 percent. Nevertheless, we continue to forecast that the total market will grow by 1 percent in 2023 as the market shifts to 5G signaling and price erosion from sales to developing regions partially offset growth of Tps license shipments.
During the quarter, 5G Signaling accounted for 18 percent of the total, combined 4G (Diameter) and 5G signaling market, up from 9 percent of the market in 2Q22.
The market share leaders in 2Q23 for the combined 5G Signaling and Diameter Signaling Controller Market are: Huawei, Oracle, Nokia, Ericsson, and ZTE.
