We have recently expanded the EPC forecast to include separate forecasts for both PNF and VNF revenues, sessions, and average selling price per session.

We forecast that the total wireless packet core market traditional packet core + evolved packet core) will grow to nearly $10 B in 2020, a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16% as session shipments grow by 21% CAGR.  Over the same timeframe, we expect that total mobile data traffic will grow by an average of 54% per year.   The difference between the growth rates is due to price declines, much of which is facilitated by NFV, and performance increases in the packet core network elements.
