BELMONT, CA — August 29, 2026 — Exact Ventures recently published its Telecom Signaling (5G Signaling, Diameter Signaling, and SS7 STP, Vendor Market Share, Total Market and 5-Year Forecast Analysis for 2Q 2026.
The telecom signaling market rose modestly from the prior quarter in 2Q26 but remained below year-ago levels, extending a soft start to 2026 after a strong close to 2025. Diameter signaling, which supports 4G LTE and 5G non-standalone networks, remained the largest segment, and services revenue improved during the quarter. Revenue from 5G signaling network functions (SCP, BSF and SEPP) declined in the first half, and its share of the market slipped compared with a year ago.
We expect the market to recover in the second half, and 4Q26 is forecast to be the largest quarter on record. 5G signaling leads the recovery. For the full year, we expect total signaling revenue to be roughly flat with 2025, as solid growth in 5G signaling offsets a continued decline in Diameter. Signaling investment typically follows 5G standalone core buildouts. Operators deploy the Service Communication Proxy (SCP) to route and scale traffic as their service-based networks grow, the Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP) to secure roaming and interconnect between 5G networks, and the Binding Support Function (BSF) to link sessions to policy. Diameter will remain the largest segment for some time, since 4G and non-standalone 5G still carry most mobile traffic.
Legacy SS7 signaling is a small part of the market but continues to grow modestly. It supports 2G/3G networks and international roaming, and ongoing investment in signaling security keeps it relevant. The report provides vendor market share for Diameter signaling controllers, 5G signaling network functions, and SS7 STPs and signaling firewalls by region, covering both product and services revenue, along with forecasts.
